Unfortunately, the working fountain in the Tech corridor has been damaged again causing a major leak and so it has been isolated. At the moment both fountains remain out of action until repaired and an urgent callout has been requested.
The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations apply to all of us who use display screen equipment (DSE) daily, for continuous periods of an hour or more.
There is training on DSE available on TES Develop which aims to help you understand the risks in using DSE and what you should do to ensure your health and safety when using it.
The link to TES Develop is here.
For instructions on how to access this and other courses on TES Develop click here.
Please try to undertake this training this term – it may help improve your wellbeing! Do raise any questions you may have with JCS or SHZ.
Site Team are asking that teachers cast a fresh eye around their classrooms to ensure student tables and chairs are not right next to the radiators. There has been a spate of ‘radiator’ tickets which causes concern as with enough force, the radiators can be dislodged causing instant flooding of very hot water which is both dangerous and disruptive to lessons whilst being repaired and cleaned up.
If this does happen, please immediately send a student to main reception to radio Site Team or grab a radio holder and request they radio Site Team. Thank you.
Dear all,
As part of culture day, I will be collecting recipes from staff and parents with the aim to create an E-Recipe book. If you have any home recipes that you would be happy to share, please send them directly to me via email. Thank you.

Dear all,
We will be celebrating this years Culture Day on Wednesday 21st February, and as part of the celebrations, parents have been invited to contribute some foods from their country/culture so that we can offer a food tasting session to the students. I would like to extend the invitation to all staff and give you the opportunity to represent your country by bringing in a dish of your choice. The dish can be anything you like, homemade or bought; all we ask is that is does not contain any nuts and that all ingredients are clearly labelled. If you would like to contribute something on the day or have any questions, please contact me directly by email or pop in and see me in the library.
Many thanks

The Academy is working to reduce single use plastic and one of the suggested ways to model this is by the use of glass water jugs and recyclable cups for staff and external meetings.
Suitable jugs with lids that fit nicely in the water fountains for refilling have been sourced and are stored in a cupboard in the Admin office. If you would like to make use of these for your meetings please visit the Admin Team who will point you in the right direction.
You may well see mice around but please be assured that Pest Control were on site this week and are returning on Monday. All remedial actions that Pest Control advise have been carried out by the Site Team and deep cleaning took place in key areas during this half term.
However, the mice are more visible on our return to the Academy because during half term there is a lack of available food so only then do they start to take the baited-trap food but this will take a few days to have an effect.
To create an inhospitable environment in your work spaces, please ensure:
Unfortunately, methods for controlling mice are quite limited by law now which means that acceptable methods to control them become more challenging when many processed foods contain antidotes to the permitted poisons. If we work together, this will help to control them.
Thank you for your support.
